"Financial Freedom" Signifies Who You Are

by Thomas Turner

Lots of folks spend time dreaming about achieving financial freedom. We've all thought about that from time to time. Still, you may never have given much consideration to exactly what it would mean in your case. Certainly, different individuals have different notions about being free financially. Before you start working toward that elusive goal, you might want to figure out just what it signifies to you.

Many have noticed that time and money can be considered inversely proportional. What that means is that you can often trade some of one in order to get more of the other. If you simply consider how this could affect both your personal and business life, you will be amazed at the truth of this statement.

For instance, you may spend your personal time to clean your home or to mow your lawn, or you can shell out money to someone to do this work for you, and you can get the free time all to yourself. You can use up this time exploring on your own, or you may give money to someone who is a specialist in that field.

With this under consideration, financial freedom can generally be considered as the point in your life where you are able to stop trading your time for cash to support yourself and your daily needs. You can see that there are two main things to consider in this equation: not having to trade your time, and what it is you actually require.

You're the one that has to figure those two things out so that you can decide what financial freedom signifies to you personally. For many individuals, it translates to being able to walk away from their employment. They picture themselves giving up the daily routine of going to the office to bring in the proverbial bacon and meet living expenses.

Sometimes people are of the opinion that they will be able to escape the stresses of the job itself, unpleasant work environments, travel requirements, tediousness of the job, etc. Still others might desire more family time, and time to spend on their hobbies. Often it is the combined sum of these factors. Many "success secrets" exist and liking what you do is among the "keys to success".

What does financial freedom mean to you? You often hear people say they want to be financially independent, maybe retire early, do more boating, or spend more time doing something besides work. The truth is this term can mean different things to different people, you must define your own reality. The keys to success for you may be not having to work for a living anymore or being able to spend more time volunteering for causes you support. There are a wide variety of success secrets and the bottom line is it's up to you to define what is important to you and what you enjoy doing.
